How you will learn
There is a period of skill training for the practical areas, observation of demonstration followed by an opportunity to practise these skills. Taught theory lessons consist of group discussions, lectures and subject research.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed performing the skills on a range of clients and your achievement will be recorded in your own assessment records. Oral questioning will take place at the time of the practical assessments. There are written end tests for some units and a number of assignments per unit. Throughout the course you will need to keep records of all the work undertaken to provide evidence of competence. These will form the basis of your portfolio.
Entry Requirements
Beauty Therapy Level 2, Hairdressing Level 2. A or AS level Art, other qualifications may be considered at the tutors discretion. Excellent references demonstrating attitude, enthusiasm and commitment. You will also need Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy. If you do not possess these, we can assess your current level of literacy and numeracy.
Entry is also conditional on a successful interview.
Attendance
One year (36 weeks). Attendance at College will be required for approximately 16 hours per week.
