What you will study
All the practical skills required in the construction of brickwork including the construction of solid and cavity walling. Theoretical elements include technical drawing, technology, Health & Safety and site procedures.
Your Course Structure
Classroom: 35%; Practical: 65%
How you will learn
Mostly by carrying out realistic practical projects in the workshops, but also by attending lectures and tutorials and working through study packages.
How you will be assessed
Continuous assessment of your practical tasks and online tests at the end of each unit.
Entry Requirements
Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying (Construction) with Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications.
Consideration will be given to applicants with suitable industry experience which can be assessed at an interview.
Consideration will also be given to applicants with no formal qualifications in English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE grade C). These applicants will be required to take a BKSB test and be working at Level 2 as a minimum.
All applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Attendance
Attendance in College is two consecutive days per week.
