In February 2006 a report was written by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), because care homes were failing to meet the standards for administering medication. Some of the problems that have been reported are:
> The wrong drug was administered
> Too much medication was given
> Too little medication was given
> Medication was missed, or was given too late or too early
> Staff administering medication, were not adequately
trained
> Medication was left unattended in a communal place, or
was lost
> They ran out of the specific medication or medication was
overstocked and out of date
> Mistakes in records of medicine administration
