Vintage Hairstyling for Camera
Vintage Hair Lounge is now offering the Vintage Hairstyling For Camera Course at a variety of new venues across the South.
With retro, vintage and burlesque hairstyles ever more in demand, this is the perfect opportunity to learn the history, techniques and styles to meet current trends.
This intensive short course is geared towards the freelance industry in particular but new entrants and returners will find the dressing skills and expert knowledge invaluable in their careers.
We are able to accommodate experienced hairdressers as well as those without formal hairdressing experience.
An introduction to shapes and styles of the 20th Century will be followed by demonstrations and then students will perfect the relevant traditional setting, waving and dressing techniques used and create a number of key retro styles.
The second day will concentrate on researching, designing and creating vintage styles on live models. Central to this will be to forge an understanding of adapting shapes and styles for individuals and using products correctly to ensure a quality finish.
Live model work will be viewed on camera to increase confidence in shape and finish of chosen styles.

Further Details
Day One
1. Overview of the development of hairstyling in the 20th century. Understanding shapes and techniques used to create styles of the 1920s to the 1980s.
2. Demonstration and practical to learn and perfect the main traditional techniques : waving, pin-curling, backcombing, and dressing out.
Appreciation of how to effectively adapt and use modern methods to achieve traditional styles.
3. Create complete vintage styles on training blocks.
Day Two
1. Research, design and create vintage styles on live models.
2. Product training and effective choice and use of products to achieve desired look.
3. All work created on live models will be viewed on camera with a view to appreciating shape and quality finish of styles.
Students will, in addition to photographing their own work as they wish, be provided with professional photographs of their live model work suitable for portfolio purposes.
