In this 10 week course you will explore the fundamentals of art and design, learn and improve your skills using plenty of practical experience. As well as lots of hands on practice you will also learn about important theory which you will use to inform your art. You will also have the opportunity to visit relevant exhibitions and local events as well as benefit from the experience of guest tutors. Classes are kept to small numbers to ensure all students receive plenty of tuition time. Refreshments are provided.

During this course you will:
Learn to draw basic forms using hand-eye techniques
Learn how to create depth using light and shading
Learn how to create perspective
Learn how to draw the human figure and body parts accurately
Create a portrait using precision techniques
Use pastel, graphite and charcoal for drawing
Use a range of pigments and techniques for painting
Use techniques for creating texture and atmosphere
Explore different genres of art to inform your work
Take part in discussions and activities to enhance your knowledge
Create a series of art works for a portfolio
By the end of the course you will:
Develop a sketchbook of ideas
Produce a portfolio of work to aid access to further education / workReceive a certificate of completion (only available when full course purchased)
