This qualification enables learners to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding to support children and young people in the school environment, covering the development and growth of children and young people, safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and supporting positive behaviour. You will also consider legislation, policies and procedures, health and safety, as well as planning, delivery, review and evaluation of lessons. This course encourages you to consider your individual development plans and develop reflective practice. A diary or log book will also be required to demonstrate your on and off the job training.
This course is suitable for those already working in a school as a teaching assistant, learning support, cover supervisor or similar roles at a level 3.
To achieve this qualification you will need to complete 11 mandatory units to gain 32 credits, followed by a further 12 credits taken from the available optional units. You will be given guidance to choose the optional units.
You will have access to online research activities, online forums and tutor support. There will be observations at your workplace which will be arranged with your Co-ordinating Assessor.
