INTRODUCTION TO BUSHCRAFT

You will spend the beginning part of the morning learning some basic knots and lashing used in bushcraft, you will them put them to use when putting up a basha. We will then have a look at the plants and trees surrounding us, in particular how to distinguish between them and some of their uses. Then its on to collect water. We will go through the processes of collection, filtration and purification. The afternoon will start with the types of shelters used in bushcraft and wilderness living. You will then go on to build a leaf litter shelter using what nature has to offer. After your shelter is built its on to fire lighting. We will go through the basic principles of fire lighting where you will get a chance to have a go at fire by friction using the bow drill method.

Over the course of the day you will learn:

- How to light a fire (without matches)
- Construct a weatherproof Shelter
- Some basic knots and lashings
- How to find water and make it safe to drink
- How to identify useful trees and plants
- Safety with back country cutting tools

This course is self catering, but there is always tea and biscuits available.

This course will be run on one day starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm.

Minimum aged is 8 years old (any under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a fully paying adult).
