In every area of business and industry, project management techniques are increasingly employed to implement strategy and achieve objectives. More and more, professionals find themselves needing to deliver projects within the performance criteria of quality, cost and time.
This popular course provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of Project Management and supplies the tools needed to plan, guide and deliver beneficial change. Managing a successful project, however, involves more than theories, schedules and templates. It requires strong interpersonal management skills and an appreciation of the dynamic interaction between projects and the organisation they transform. In addition to the essential techniques required by project managers, this programme therefore equips you with the broader knowledge you need to lead successful projects, big and small.
The Fundamentals of Project Management starts by introducing the project manager’s toolkit – a pragmatic foundation of strategies and knowledge. It goes on to give you the communication skills needed to lead project teams, define business cases and gain commitment. The course analyses proven planning and scheduling techniques and the key issues of project resourcing. Finally, you will gain a wide-ranging understanding of how projects work within the structure and culture of different organisations. This balance of practical, industry recognised techniques, management skills and big picture strategy will give you the edge in an increasingly competitive field.
The Fundamentals of Project Management is approved by the American Academy of Project Management (AAPM), who have acknowledged that the course prepares participants for a globally recognised accreditation such as Certified International Project Manager (CIPM) by the AAPM International Board of Standards. The course provides knowledge recognised by AAPM as counting towards accreditation, and can be used to start a portfolio of evidence as a candidate for certification. Students who take this course are able to use the words "CIPM candidate" on their resume. For more information, visit www.AAPM.info.
As this course is delivered by distance learning, you can develop your project management expertise while you work, without having to take time off to travel or attend seminars. You can download the materials to study at a time and location convenient to you. The online learning portal gives you access to a dedicated expert tutor, and allows you to benefit from a global network of fellow students.
