Most CCTV Operator jobs also require a Door Supervisor or Security Guarding licence as the role often includes other security duties.
You require a CCTV licence from the SIA if you operate CCTV equipment deployed in fixed positions or with a pan, tilt and zoom capability where your role requires you to do any of the following:
monitoring the activities of the public (in public areas or on private property) use cameras to focus on the activities of particular people either by controlling or directing cameras at an individualuse cameras to look out for particular individuals use recorded CCTV images to identify individuals or to investigate their activities

The four day training course is in two parts:
Unit 1: Working in the private security industry - relevant legislation, health and safety, fire safety, workplace emergencies and effective communication and customer care.
Unit 2: Specific Unit (CCTV) - codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines, legislation for CCTV operations, roles and responsibilities of a CCTV Operator, characteristics of a CCTV system, effective use of CCTV equipment and emergency procedures in a control room.
