Mindfulness Courses in Scotland

Mindfulness is an approach to living rather than a technique. It is about living in the present moment, about being more awake and alive to our lives rather than operating from a sort of ‘automatic pilot’ in which we can be cut off from aspects of our experience.
How does the Mindfulness Programme work?
You learn new and more effective ways of handling your moods, as well as emotions, by:
Becoming more aware of small changes in your thoughts, feelings and body.
Learning to disengage from trying to ‘fix’ things and repeated self-critical thoughts.
Establishing your own mindfulness practice.
Extending mindfulness to your ordinary activities and to stressful situations.

What is the Mindfulness Based Training Programme?
The Mindfulness-Based Training Programme is open for everyone interested in practising and training in Mindfulness. It offers an excellent foundation for understanding and practising mindfulness meditation both in a direct practical way and also within a group setting. It can offer an insight for many in cultivating a different kind of relationship (based on acceptance and kindness) with oneself and others.
The Programme is an integration of ancient Buddhist practices and philosophy of mindfulness, with current psychological understanding and knowledge. The Training Programme is intended to help in pragmatic, practical ways, and facilitate us into realising and accessing our existing inner understanding.
Who can attend?
Anyone and everyone can learn and practise mindfulness. It is simple, you can practise it anywhere, and the results can be life-changing.
These Courses are open for both members of the public and professionals intending to incorporate mindfulness in their life and work situation. We draw our resources from both MBSR and MBCT approaches and also from our teachers extensive experience of meditation practices for a number of years. The course consists of:
An Orientation/ Introduction session, before the training begins.
Eight weekly sessions of two and a half hours
Mindful communication and dialogue within the group.
Regular Mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness Retreat, usually after week six.
Mindfulness Course Manual and 2 CDs provided for guidance.
