Online OCR Level 1 ITQ Award/Certificate in IT User Skills (Ref:58751)

What you will study

For the Certificate, you must achieve 13 credits which are acquired by successfully passing assignments in the following five units:-
* Improving Productivity Using ICT (Mandatory Unit) - learn to plan and review the use of appropriate IT systems and software.
* Word Processing Software - covers creating/managing files and folders and using word processing software to create and edit text files using basic formatting techniques.
* Spreadsheet Software - gain knowledge in the use of a spreadsheet to enter, edit and present numerical data using formulae and basic formatting and graphing tools.
* Database Software - learn how to use a database to add, amend, select, sort and print data within tables, queries and reports.
* Presentation Software - enables you to produce, edit and present visual information using basic formatting tools, including importing an image file.
*For the Award, you must achieve nine credits by passing assignments in three of the above units (excluding Improving Productivity Using ICT).


How you will learn

You will attend an Induction Session where your tutor will explain the outline of the programme, demonstrate how to use email and give you the opportunity to start learning. You will purchase your Learning Materials (textbooks) which will be yours to keep and work through at your own pace, but keeping within target completion dates.

You will have regular support by email and/or telephone with your tutor who will closely monitor your progress. Additional learning material will be emailed to you as appropriate.


How you will be assessed

You will work towards OCR examinations, set on specific dates, and throughout the course your tutor will provide you with feedback on individual exercises and completed past examination papers. When you and your tutor feel you are ready to sit each exam you will be entered and advised of the date and time. Your work will be marked externally by OCR moderators.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but if you have never used a computer before we suggest that you enrol on a foundation course before embarking on the Level 1 Award/Certificate.

Attendance

The Award lasts for 20 weeks and the Certificate lasts for 25 weeks. You will be required to attend College for the Induction session and when sitting each examination.
