In accordance with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, this qualification introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and includes Moving and Handling. It outlines what to expect from a manual handling assessment. It will enable employees to develop safer moving and handling techniques.
The highest instance of injury from manual/moving and handling operations in is the care industry accounting for well over 50% of injuries last year.
Manual Handling accidents account for the most people off work and for claims against employers because no training was given. In 2006/07 9,450,000 work days were lost and the average penalty per conviction by the HSE was £29,997.00.
