What you will study

All the practical skills required in the construction of brickwork including the construction of solid and cavity walling. Theoretical elements include technical drawing, technology, Health and Safety and site procedures.

Your Course Structure

Classroom: 35%; Practical: 65%

How you will learn

Mostly by carrying out realistic practical projects in the workshops, but also by attending lectures and tutorials and working through study packages.

How you will be assessed

Continuous assessment of your practical tasks and online tests at the end of each unit.

Attendance

Attendance in College is three days per week.


Further study

On completion of this course you can progress as a full-time learner to the Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying (Construction).

Alternatively, if you have gained employment in the sector you may return as an apprentice on a day release basis to achieve an NVQ Level 2, progressing to Level 3 NVQ and Diploma.

Career opportunities

Employment as a specialist bricklayer. With experience you could move into a supervisory position or even run your own business.
