How you will learn
Classes will include formal lectures, seminars, practical investigations, and work-based tasks. The course will also require a large amount of independent study.
Applying the theoretical knowledge gained in College to your own personal coaching experience is a significant element of the course, and it is therefore hoped that applicants will already be actively involved in coaching at some level. However, students without any practical experience of coaching will be able to access the College's excellent links with local providers to secure a coaching placement.
How you will be assessed
Assessment takes place by a variety of methods including examinations, lab reports, case studies, presentations and reflective diaries.
Entry Requirements
You should have a combination of academic qualifications, experience and motivation. Entry onto the course will be subject to an interview.
Those under 21 years of age should normally have one of the following qualifications as a minimum:
160 UCAS points from a suitable Level 3 course (A Levels, BTEC National/Level 3 Diplomas) + GCSE grade A* - C in Maths and English.
Students over the age of 21 are not always expected to have formal qualifications. Prior experiences will be taken into consideration.
It is desirable but not essential for applicants to hold a coaching qualification in their chosen sport and be actively involved in coaching at some level.
