What you will study
The programme is made up of a number of elements which cover three main themes: Business - how organisations work and the role technology can play; People - how to work well with other people; Technology - how to create technology solutions.
The IT Principal Learning units cover:-
* The Digital World
* Working with People
* Working with technology
* Multimedia
The other elements are:-
* Functional Skills at Entry 3 or Level 1 in English and Maths
* Foundation Project
* Work related learning
* Award in Podcasting
* AIDA
The Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills element provides the opportunity to develop skills that will equip learners to be effective employees. These skills will be embedded into other aspects of the programme.
Your Course Structure
There will be a high proportion of practical activities which involve investigating how IT is used in a range of organisations, designing and developing multimedia systems, working in a team and working with basic hardware.
How you will learn
Through a lively mix of classroom learning, practical projects, individual review sessions and input from local business people and industry practitioners. The Diploma takes a practical, scenario-based approach, using work-related examples and case-studies.
How you will be assessed
Mainly through internally set and assessed coursework, plus one short answer and multiple-choice question paper.
Entry Requirements
Entry 3 literacy and numeracy qualifications. If you do not have these, we can assess your current levels.
Attendance
You will be expected to be in College about 20 hours per week for one year.
