What you will study

In classroom sessions you will look at Construction technology to gain an insight not only into the role of a bricklayer but also of the whole construction process. You will study Health & Safety to ensure that your working practices are safe. You will also start to learn how to read and produce drawings. In the workshops you will develop the practical skills required in the construction of brickwork including basic blocklaying and bricklaying skills, and basic cavity walling.

For those who did not achieve grade C or above at GCSE in English and Maths, Functional Skills qualifications will form an integral part of the course.


Your Course Structure

Classroom: 35%; Practical: 65%

How you will learn

Mostly by carrying out practical projects in the workshops, but also by attending classroom sessions and tutorials.



How you will be assessed

Continuous assessment of your practical tasks and online tests at the end of each unit.

Entry Requirements

You will need to supply a satisfactory report from school, complete a satisfactory interview and achieve BKSB scores at a minimum of Entry Level 3 in both English and Maths.



Attendance

Attendance in College is three days per week.
