What you will study
To achieve this qualification, you must choose a vehicle specific pathway from: motor cycle/pedal cycle; van; rigid vehicle; articulated or drawbar vehicle. Within each pathway, you will complete all the mandatory units and a selection of optional units. The mandatory units are:-
* Prepare the vehicle for driving
* Protect the vehicle and the load
* Operate and monitor the vehicle systems
* Manoeuvre the vehicle in restricted spaces
* Obtain information on the collection and/or delivery of loads
How you will learn
The purpose of this qualification is to enable you to demonstrate, through workplace assessments, how well you carry out your normal daily work activities and how much you know about your job and related topics. The bulk of your learning will therefore be in the workplace, but training and support will be provided to enable you to identify areas for development and gain a greater understanding of how your work activities impact on the business.
How you will be assessed
You will be allocated a personal Assessor who will observe you undertaking your normal work activities and assess your skills and knowledge against industry standards. You will also be required to provide documentary evidence of your competence from the workplace and witness testimonies from your supervisor. Your Assessor will also provide support and guidance in the preparation of an evidence portfolio.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry qualifications, but you must be employed as a driver of commercial vehicles.
