What you will study

To achieve the CMI Award in Project Management you need to successfully study demonstrate and complete the following learning outcomes:

UNDERSTAND THE NATURE AND CONTEXT OF PROJECTS

* Define the purpose and structure of a project
* Explain the business contexts of projects
* Identify project success factors and characteristics

UNDERSTAND THE MANAGEMENT OF STAKEHOLDERS INCLUDING THE PROJECT TEAM ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Explain project roles and responsibilities
* Describe stakeholder management methods and processes
* Discuss methods to manage the project team

UNDERSTAND THE PLANNING AND CONTROL OF PROJECTS

* Discuss a project planning and control cycle
* Explain methods and processes available to plan a project
* Identify methods and processes available to control a project

How You Will Learn

Each training day will concentrate on both theory and practice and will involve the practical application of the tools acquired through working on a case study as a group.

After each training day, you will be asked to write a section of a report demonstrating your management of the relevant stage of the project process as indicated in the outline programme.


How you will be assessed

The course is assessed through one written assignment of 2,000 - 2,500 words which comprises a report showing how you have met the learning outcomes for the qualification through the management of one of the projects for which you are currently responsible.

After each session you will be expected to hand in a section of your report which will be marked and returned to you with feedback and an action plan to help you as you progress through the rest of the assignment.

At the end of the training, you will assemble these sections into the final report which will be marked and internally moderated.



Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you will be expected to have responsibility for managing a project in your workplace.



Attendance

One day per week (9.30 am to 3 pm) for five weeks, starting from 6th April 2012.
