Your Course Structure

Classroom: 25%; Practical: 75% (including residential)

How you will learn

Delivery of the units will be via both classroom based lectures and practical "hands-on" tuition, together with an equal amount of time for you to work independently and explore image making and techniques in capture, process and manipulation. There will be assignments to complete with individual deadlines and you will receive tuition to enable you to understand the requirements of the tasks.

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed by your tutors and an external examiner each time you complete a unit at regular intervals throughout the programme. Each unit can be graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. In addition you will work towards a portfolio of evidence that will comprise evidence generated by your photographic studies. This portfolio attracts points that add to your overall performance and attractiveness to Higher Education establishments.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSE passes at grade A* - C (including English plus either an Art or Design or technical subject), or a Level 2/First Diploma/Intermediate GNVQ at Merit grade. Applicants should also provide a portfolio of visual work in support of their application. You will also need Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications. If you do not have the relevant level of qualification, we can assess your current level of literacy and/or numeracy.

Attendance

Monday to Friday for approximately 16 hours per week, which includes tutorial time to discuss your progress. It is expected that to complete your studies you will be working a similar amount of time independently as private study. Extra help with English or Maths can also be arranged.
