NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Safe Handling of Medicines Distance Learning (58346)

What you will study

You will study four mandatory units (13 credits in total):-
* Understand medication and prescriptions - an introduction to the different types of medicines, legislation about medication and sources of information and guidance.
* Supply, storage and disposal of medication - provides an understanding of the requirements for safe handling, storage and disposal of medication and the roles and responsibilities of staff in relation to these procedures.
* Understand the requirements for the safe administration of medication - provides an understanding of safe methods of administration of medication and some of the more common side-effects and adverse reactions.
* Record-keeping and audit processes for medication administration and storage - including issues of accountability, responsibility and confidentiality.


How you will learn

This is a distance learning course and you will be issued with workbooks on which to base your studies. You will be guided through by a qualified tutor who will plan your course with you and give you written feedback on the work you do. They will keep in contact with you by telephone, post and/or email.


How you will be assessed

You will compile a portfolio of evidence (such as assignments, projects or reports) showing that you have met the standards required in each unit.


Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry qualifications. However, you will need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work mainly on your own through the specially prepared learning materials.


Attendance

The length of the programme is 20 weeks. There is no attendance at the College as this is a distance learning course.
