What you will study
Mathematics, Electrical and Electronic Principles, Electronic Measurement and testing, Health & Safety, Engineering Materials, Programmable Logical Controllers, Further Electrical Principles, Communication, Project (double unit), Further Maths, Three-phase Motors and Drives - 12 units in all. This course has common units with the Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, so there is the possibility of changing your choice of route in Year 2.
How you will learn
A mixture of classroom-based learning, using computer application packages and laboratory work. You will be guided throughout by enthusiastic staff with a wealth of industrial experience.
How you will be assessed
Mainly by continuous assessment of coursework with some phased assessment.
Entry Requirements
Normally four GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics, an English based subject and Science or BTEC First Award, although College Admissions will accept candidates with relevant experience. Accreditation for prior learning is available where appropriate.
Attendance
A two-year, part-time programme. The course will involve some home study.
