Microsoft Office macros have developed over recent software releases into one of the most powerful ways to automate repetitive tasks. In addition, by understanding the native language of VBA – Visual Basic for Applications, a user can let Excel make decisions, repeat a task until an outcome occurs and perform automated document processing. The Visual Basic language has rocketed in popularity in the last few years as an easy to learn application design package. The ability to integrate all of the office applications, create custom interfaces with stunning speed of development has enabled previously non-technical users to deliver marketable results. With the ability to interface with the Internet, networks, core windows systems and databases through highly graphical interfaces, VBA forms the programming core of all the office applications.
Trainees should be familiar with basic Windows 98 and Microsoft Excel functions. Previous experience at any programming level or use of macros would be advantageous, but is not essential.
