What you will study
* Monitor and Maintain Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
* Client Care and Communication in Beauty Related Industries
* Working in Beauty Related Industries
* Provide Body Massage, including Anatomy and Physiology
* Provide Facial Electrotherapy Treatments
* Provide Body Electrotherapy Treatments
* Microdermabrasion
* Apply Individual Permanent Lashes
* Intimate Waxing for Female Clients or Massage Using Pre blended Aromatherapy Oils (module to be confirmed)
If you are aged between 16-18 on the full-time course you will be expected to work towards Functional Skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
The new qualification attracts UCAS points if you are hoping to progress to university.
Your Course Structure
Classroom: 35%; Practical: 65%;
How you will learn
There is a period of skill training for the practical areas, observation of demonstration followed by an opportunity to practise these skills. Taught theory lessons consist of group discussions, lectures and subject research. Hours to be discussed in interview.
There may be opportunities for field trips and additional training with external providers eg spray tan.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed performing the skills on a range of clients and your achievement will be recorded in your own ‘in house’ assessment records. Oral questioning will take place at the time of the practical assessments. There are written end tests for some units and a number of assignments per unit. Throughout the course you will need to keep records of all the work undertaken to provide evidence of competence. These will form the basis of your portfolio.
Entry Requirements
Beauty Therapy Level 2. Entrance test for internal candidates or interview for external candidates. Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications. If you do not have these, we can assess you.
