The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene has been designed as a first level course incorporating fundamental food hygiene knowledge for all food handlers. The programme covers a defined syllabus and is assessed by a short objective test consisting of 30 multi-choice questions.

Elements of study within the syllabus include the following: Introduction to Food Hygiene Prevention of Contamination and Food Poisoning Personal Hygiene Food Pests Food Safety Legislation Premises & Equipment Food Poisoning & Microbiology Cleaning & Disinfection Courses are 6 hours in duration (full day oor 2 half days). They are delivered on an open and in-house basis.
