* Setting up and operating a circular saw
* Producing setting out details for routine joinery products
* Marking out from setting out details for routine joinery products
* Manufacturing routine joinery products
* Constructing an understairs cupboard

Your Course Structure
Classroom: 40%; Practical: 60%
How you will learn
Through practical tasks in the College workshops and classroom based activity with tutorials, working through associated study packages, and using the College VLE (Virtual Learning Environment).
How you will be assessed
Continuous assessment throughout the course of practical workshop tasks and online unit-end tests. Final assessment is through completion of a practical piece of work and an exam at the end of the year.
Entry Requirements
You will need to have successfully achieved Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery.
Consideration will also be given to learners progressing with the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction who have achieved distinction grade in the Carpentry and Joinery elements, or alternatively those with a substantial amount of relevant practical experience.
In addition a good reference from the Level 1 tutor/teacher/employer is required and you will need to complete a successful interview.
The course also requires your maths and english to be at level 1, this can be assessed by the college at interview for progressing learners or enrolment.
Attendance
This is a full-time course and attendance will be three days per week over 36 weeks
