What you will study

Practical and theoretical units in carpentry and joinery related subjects such as Health and Safety, hand tools, powered hand tools, basic woodworking joints, access equipment, building workplace relationships and organising and planning work.

Your Course Structure

Classroom: 50%; Practical: 50%


How you will learn

Through practical projects, working through associated study packages and attending lectures and tutorials.


How you will be assessed

Assessment is continuous by completing practical tasks and written tests.
Each of the six units has an end test; there is a GOLA exam which covers the whole course and a synoptic end test for the practical work.


Entry Requirements

Selection test and interview. You will also be required to
complete the College’s initial assessment in literacy and
numeracy to a minimum of Entry 3.


Attendance

Part-time - One full day. This is available to apprentices.

You will require at least 85% attendance to pass the course.
