What you will study

To achieve the Diploma you will need to complete eight mandatory units plus one optional unit, gaining a total of 37 credits as a minimum. The mandatory units are:-

* Contribute to Health & Safety in the Bus and Coach Work Environment.
* Deal Effectively with Challenging Situations and Passengers on a Bus or Coach.
* Deal with Emergencies and Incidents during a Bus or Coach Journey.
* Provide Professional Customer Service in the Bus and Coach Industry.
* Prepare for Passenger Carrying Journeys in a Bus or Coach.
* Provide Professional Customer Service to Passengers with Additional Needs on a Bus or Coach.
* Maintain Effective Working Relationships with Colleagues in the Bus and Coach Industry.
* Drive Passenger Carrying Vehicles Safely and Efficiently.


How you will learn

The purpose of NVQs is to enable you to demonstrate, through workplace assessments, how well you carry out your normal daily work activities and how much you know about your job and related topics. The bulk of your learning will therefore be in the workplace, but training and support will be provided to enable you to identify areas for development and gain a greater understanding of how your work activities impact on the business.

How you will be assessed

You will be allocated a personal NVQ Assessor who will observe you undertaking your normal work activities and assess your skills and knowledge against industry standards. You will also be required to provide documentary evidence of your competence from the workplace and witness testimonies from your supervisor. Your Assessor will also provide support and guidance in the preparation of an evidence portfolio.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry qualifications, but you must be employed as a driver of passenger carrying vehicles.

Attendance

The programme normally lasts for up to one year, but can usually be completed in a shorter time.
