What you will study
We've created a course that specifically addresses the need to design, as well as build, websites. We combine creative modules such as Typography, Digital Imaging and Interface Design with technical modules that study HTML, CSS and PHP, in order to produce graduates who are ready to make an immediate impact in the creative industries.
The creative and technical skills you learn can also be repurposed into print design projects, which further enhance your employability. We have excellent links with local web design professionals, and work closely with them to ensure there's a high degree of industrial relevance to your studies.
Work-related learning is a core theme of Foundation Degrees, and during the final year of the course you will work on a variety of commercial projects in our web design studio, honing your skills whilst working with real clients. Over the past year we have created websites for numerous local and regional businesses, from the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats to the BBC's 'The Apprentice' finalist Claire Young.

How you will learn
The course is built around a series of practical assignments which encourage you to investigate the tasks and processes of web design. You develop the knowledge to undertake these assignments through a mixture of lecture, workshop, seminar and self-study activities.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed using a variety of methods including, for example, practical projects and an online journal. You will be required to deliver verbal presentations.
Entry Requirements
College leavers should typically have a minimum of 160 UCAS Tariff Points. Mature students should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for the creative, technical and academic demands of the course.
An English qualification is essential; a Maths qualification is desirable. You will need strong IT and communication skills.
You will be invited to attend an interview in order to assess your suitability for the course. A portfolio of your own creative and academic work is required.
Attendance
Sixteen hours per week over two consecutive days. We specifically timetable the course to minimise the amount of travelling you've got to do, and to maximise your time whilst in College. An equivalent amount of self-study is required.
