Overview
The use of workshops to elicit information, gain consensus, make decisions etc is an
increasingly important part of many IT projects and Business Change projects. This course is designed to focus on the roles, the structure and the running of such workshops in a Business Development / IT
project context, and to identify and practice techniques for obtaining
successful outcomes.

Who will benefit from attending this course?
Facilitators, Managers, Team Leaders, Systems Analysts and Designers who will be called upon to
facilitate workshops in an IT environment. Or anyone delegated to lead a business change
project environment.
Course Objectives
At the end of the course delegates will be able to:
plan and run a facilitated workshop;
manage the workshop process;
manage a workshop group and individuals in that group;
identify suitable techniques to use and assess their effectiveness.
Course Content
This course is designed for those who will be called upon to facilitate workshops in an IT
environment. It gives the delegates the opportunity to practice the skills they will need to
facilitate such workshops. After the course the delegates will be able to:
identify the roles and responsibilities within a facilitated workshop;
identify suitable techniques for use in a facilitated workshop and identify strengths and
weaknesses;
prepare for a facilitated workshop;
run a facilitated workshop;
identify the review and follow-up action needed.
PLEASE NOTE: Facilitators can now become accredited via the International Association of
Facilitators (IAF) through their recently established process. This requires candidates to undergo an
examination where they practically demonstrate their facilitation skills. This course equips delegates with the skills that are necessary for people who wish to follow this path.
