Overview The pressure on IT developers is to develop working computer systems in short timescales. For suitable projects, RAD ( Rapid Application Development ) and Prototyping can help achieve this. This course describes a RAD approach by concentrating on the key features of a RAD project, people issues, project management issues, the use of facilitated workshops, useful structured techniques and the effective use of prototyping. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to: Define the principles, advantages and disadvantages of Rapid Application Development Describe different approaches to prototyping and explain where each approach might be applied in the development process Identify key factors in the success of a facilitated workshop Describe the framework necessary to establish and manage a RAD team Contribute effectively to a RAD team Recognize specific project management issues of a RAD project Identify appropriate opportunities for using the RAD approach in an organisation Professional Qualification This course is one of an integrated set of courses leading to the widely respected British Computer Society Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB) Diploma in Business Systems Development Optional Examination An optional examination can either be taken at the end of the course (depending upon demand) or on specified dates at venues across the UK. The exam consists of 15 minutes reading time followed by a one-hour “open book” written examination. Please note, holders of the ISEB DSDM Practitioner’s Certificate are exempt from this module’s exams. The examination is charged for separately. Please contact TCC for the latest details on exam fees, dates and venues. Successful candidates are awarded the: ISEB Business Systems Development Certificate in RAD and Prototyping Essentials and earn 2 “credits” towards achieving an ISEB Diploma in Business Systems Development
