What you will study
The course will cover hairdressing services in theory and practice and will include: advise and consult with clients, shampoo and condition hair and scalp, styling hair including drying and setting techniques, cutting, colouring, perming and neutralising, reception duties, developing team work, Health, Safety and Security.
Full-time students will be expected to work towards appropriate Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT.
The qualification attracts UCAS points if you are hoping to progress to university.

Your Course Structure
Classroom: 30%; Practical: 50%; Work Experience: 20%
How you will learn
Theory lessons plus practical work in both the College salons and at your work placement which you will attend for one day per week.
How you will be assessed
Practical assessment is ongoing as and when appropriate. There will be written tests, some written assignments and projects and the collection of a portfolio.
Entry Requirements
Level 1 literacy and numeracy. If you do not have the relevant level of qualification, we can assess your current level of literacy/numeracy. Enthusiasm and commitment are essential and will be assessed at interview/screening test. Positive school report.
