What you will study

You will develop your musicianship and skills through group performances and actively contribute to projects utilising skills and techniques gained throughout the course.You will learn about the history of popular music, how the business is structured, how to use music technology and you will gain experience of performing at local and regional venues. You will experiment as an individual following your own ideas and areas of interest but also work with other music and performing arts students whilst collaborating on projects.

Classroom: 30%; Practical: 70%

How you will learn

This is a practical, work related course with academic and theoretical exploration threaded throughout. You will learn by experimenting as an individual but also
by collaborating on a variety of projects with other music and performing arts students. You will gain experience by performing at local and regional venues and complete realistic, work-based assignments.


How you will be assessed

Through performances, practical and theoretical project based work.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade A* - C including English, plus Maths at grade D (or equivalent). Alternatively, a Level 2 Diploma in Music or other Level 2 qualification at Merit grade. You will be required to attend an interview and audition.

Course Costs (subject to change)

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, residentials etc which are payable by all students.
Any student entered/registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and then withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.

Different fees apply to international students.
