What you will study

The course consists of six units covering organic, inorganic and physical chemistry which you study over two years. Two of these units involve an assessment of your investigative and practical skills which will have been developed by carrying out experiments in the laboratory.

The first year (AS level) revises knowledge from GCSE level and introduces new concepts.

The second year (A2 level) builds upon the topics studied at AS.

How you will learn

A variety of learning methodologies are used including lecturer-led discussions; laboratory work; tutorials covering exam technique and individual assignments.

Notes are provided throughout the course, together with practice questions tailored to the needs of individual students.

How you will be assessed

Throughout the course your level of attainment will be gauged by regular tests and homework assignments.

During the two years you will sit four unit examinations (re-sits available) and
your practical work will be continually assessed through experiments in class and two written ISAs (investigative skills assignments).
