The Silk Trends Academy ‘Simply Afro’ Course has been designed as an introduction to Afro Hairdressing and covers all the essential foundation skills needed to provide Afro Hairdressing services. All aspects of working with Afro hair including braiding, natural hair techniques, relaxing, texturising, finishing, and styling techniques will be covered.
The course is an ideal way to gain the confidence to work with Afro and mixed textured hair. Class sizes are kept low, max 6 students per session, to ensure you get the support you need.

Simply Afro Course
The course is delivered as a 3-hour evening course, 1 evening each week for 9 weeks, and is an ideal way to gain the confidence to work with Afro and mixed textured hair.
Duration: 9 weeks (1 evening per week – 6.30pm – 9.30pm)
Next Course Starts: Various Start Dates throughout the year.
Experience: Foundation/Basic Hairdressing Skills Required

The Course content will include:
Health and Safety

Shampoo Afro Hair
Blow-drying Afro Hair
Natural Hair Thermal/Press Styling
Natural Hair Twist Styles (2 different styles)
Braiding (Cornrow and Single Braid styles, with and without extensions)
Relaxing/Texturising
Styling and Finishing
Product Knowledge
On successful completion of the course, students will receive the Silk Trends Academy Diploma certificate.
Our tutor is a qualified Lecturer in Hairdressing and NVQ assessor, with over 25 years experience in the hairdressing industry. The course is design to National Standards and will act as sound foundation to offer Afro Hairdressing Services.
