First Aid at Work Courses (FAW)
This is a 3 day first aid at work qualifying course, which is HSE approved as required by the First Aid Regulations 1981. The 3-day HSE first aid at work course was introduced on the 1st October 2009.

Course Content / First Aid at work
The delegate will be taught in the following key areas based on HSE approved first aid at work. The course will be tailored to individual workplaces where appropriate.
Subjects taught:
* Accident book/ RIDDOR
* Priorities of first aid
* The unconscious casualty and how to treat them
* Treating someone who has stopped breathing and whose heart has stopped/ CPR
* Actions to deal with wounds & bleeding
* Looking after a casualty who in shock
* Recognising various medical conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes and asthma
* The treatment of broken bones and soft tissue injuries such as strains and sprains
* Recognising hypothermia and heat exhaustion and their treatment
* The treatment of burns and scalds
* How to help a poisoned victim
Assessment
Their tutor throughout the course will continually assess delegates. At the end of the course independant
assessor(s) will assess delegates twice in their practical skills (CPR & INJURY). Upon successful completion of these assessments the delegate will be awarded a HSE First Aid at Work certificate which will is valid for three years.
