The duration of study for the National General Certificate is a minimum of 80 hours plus private study and background reading (around 80 hours). The syllabus is divided into sixteen units.
Assessment is by an end examination comprising of two written papers and a practical assessment which consists of carrying out a health and safety inspection of a workplace and preparing a management report.
