This course was originally developed for and run within a number of UK universities.
The course will examine the role of the project manager and the structure of a project and the project team. Students will learn about the project planning process, how to set project aims and objectives, budgeting and how to employ a variety of useful project planning tools. Risk analysis and management will also be covered.
What is Project Management? Overview of Project Management structure, terminology and principles. Consideration of Project Management techniques used in daily life.
Project Management in the Workplace: Consideration of the use of Project Management in the workplace, project initiation, basic project planning and execution processes, and common tools used to evaluate progress.
Why do Projects Fail? Investigation of why 70% of projects fail to achieve their objectives and how this can be overcome.
Project Management in Practice: Construction of a project plan, identifying appropriate milestones, an appropriate budget, and consideration of effective project review.
Risk analysis and management: Consideration of some of the basic tools and techniques of risk assessment and management
