Foundation Learning in Hair & Beauty
Available in Essex and London, Foundation Learning in Hair & Beauty is aimed at those aged 16-19 who are interested in Hairdressing & Beauty.
The course is broken into four areas; Level 1 (NVQ) Diploma Hairdressing & Beauty, Lifecoaching including Nail and Skin care, Makeup and Body Language & Interview tips, Functional Skills in Maths, English & ICT and Personal Social Studies in Money Management & Preparing for work.
Foundation Learning in Hair & Beauty promotes Breakfast Club - Free Breakfast for a healthy kick start to the day!
The course will include regular outings and exhibitions including: BeautyShow @ Olympia, Salon International, Regular talks with Industry experts. A Graduation will also be delivered at the end of the course to congratulate those who have participated on the course.
This is a 12 week course, half terms are not time tabled whilst studying this course but the learners do have a two week Christmas break. Foundation Learning in Hair & Beauty is delivered on a Thursday and Friday.
Once Foundation Learning in Hair & Beauty has been completed the learner can progress onto either:
Apprenticeship (NVQ L2)in Hairdressing
Apprenticeship (NVQ L2)in Barbering
Diploma Beauty Specialist Level 2

G20 Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health & safety,
GH1 Shampoo & Condition hair
G3 Contribute to the development of effective working relationships
GH3 Prepare for hair services and maintain work areas
Learners must choose 2 optional units from the following:
G2 Assist with salon reception duties
GH2 Blow dry hair
GH4 Assist with hair colouring services
GH5 Assist with perming services
GH6 Plait and twist hair using basic techniques
GH7 Remove hair extensions
GB1 Assist with shaving services
Alongside the Level 1 (NVQ) Diploma Hairdressing & Beauty course, Functional skills in Maths, English and ICT. Lifecoaching including Nail and Skin care, Makeup and Body Language & Interview tips and Personal Social Studies in Money Management & Preparing for work.
