This course focuses on fibre optics in an external environment using single mode fibre, used by telecoms companies, Highway agencies etc for technologies like WDM, CCTV, Access networks, you will build a network within our centre and you will learn to install prepare and terminate cables on ODF’s, External joint enclosures, splice trays, use varies test equipment like Insertion loss testers, Power meters, OTDR’s troubleshoot networks, diagnose faults within a network.

Throughout this module of the course we will train you to be competent in installation, splicing, termination and testing of fibre optic cables, learn to prepare external joint enclosures, prepare loop joints, work on a live singlemode fibre network within training lab be able test and troubleshoot networks in an external environment using OTDR's, ILM. A typical network maybe a Telecommunications networks like SDH, CWDM/DWDM, Metro Ethernet, Motorways, CCTV, Mobile Backhaul.
This module can be taken with Unit 2 Fibre optics internal during the same week.
Unit 1 Communications principles must be taken as this is a mandatory unit to gain the full certification.
