Our studio basics photography course is perfect for anyone wanting to get into portrait photography either as a career or a hobby. Students attending the course will be required to have basic photography skills with an understanding of shutter speed, ISO settings, aperture etc. If you do not have these skills we would suggest you first attend our beginners DSLR course.
This studio photography course will teach you about the full range of studio equipment and how to use it correctly with a hands-on learning approach. This course will cover many of the main aspects of studio photography such as light metering, lighting, camera settings, composition etc.
You will learn how to setup and use studio lighting in both high key (white) and low key (black) situations. You will explore the basic use of light modifiers such as soft boxes, barn doors, grids, umbrellas and reflectors to create different styles of photographs.
There will be a model present for the full day of the course allowing you to practice as you are learning. If required we can provide you with a model release form (free of charge) so you can use any photographs taken during for your portfolio.

This course will be held at The Photography Studio, Hebburn (just outside of Newcastle Upon Tyne)
For this course you will need a Digital SLR camera. If you don't have a camera please let us know as we may be able to loan you a camera.
