It also examines the skills needed to be a mediator and looks at the skills of the participants and how to expand on those they already have. Additional training is given in assertiveness, listening skills and dealing with conflict effectively. It explores participants own reactions to conflict and their own personal awareness in order to become an effective mediator. The course also covers the process of mediation from first visits right through to the face to face meeting with many opportunities for practicing the skills learnt.
