The aim of the course is to train the candidate in moving and handling clients the correct way without injury to themselves or others.

The course covers the following topics:
• Legislation
• Risk assessment
• Understand the structure and function of the spine
• Basic manual handling awareness
• Safer moving and handling techniques
• The use of equipment and aids
• Correct posture when lifting
• Keeping up to date
All of our care courses meet the requirements of the Care Standards Act 2000 and are approved by ‘Skills for Care’
The course is classroom based with facilitated group discussions and practical exercises. All students are required to sign a health and fitness declaration as part of this course.
At the end of the course delegates complete a multiple choice test paper and receive a certificate of attendance. There is no mandatory re-qualification period but it’s recommended that a refresher is taken every year.
The course duration is between 4 – 6 GLH
