The aim of the course is to make candidates aware of and how to manage aggressive behaviour in a controlled and professional manner.

What is challenging and aggressive behaviour as defined by the Health and Safety Executive
Who is at risk and the different types of behaviour
Stress mentally and physically
Understanding what triggers individuals to be aggressive
Warning signs and danger signs before an attack
The legislation regarding the use of reasonable force
The definition of reasonable force
Company policies
The communication process and potential blocks to this
Understanding the correct incident reporting procedure
Understanding the DYNAMIC risk assessment process
All of our care courses meet the requirements of the Care Standards Act 2000 and are approved by Skills for Care
The course is classroom based with facilitated group discussions. At the end of the course delegates complete a multiple choice test paper and receive a certificate of attendance. There is no mandatory re-qualification period but its recommended that a refresher is taken at least every year.
The course duration is between 4 6 GLH
