The aim of the course is to train the candidate in all aspects of Child Protection.

The course covers the following topics:
Protection of the child is the first priority.
Area Protection Committee Procedures or Local Safeguarding Children Boards procedures.
Recognising possible signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Reporting concerns and confidentiality.
Childcare Act 2006
The course is a mixture of guided class room based learning and practical exercises. At the end of the course delegates complete a multiple choice test paper and receive a certificate of attendance. There is no mandatory re-qualification period but its recommended that a refresher is taken at least every 1 year.
The duration of the course is between: 3 5 GLH
