The aim of the course is to train the candidate in all aspects of Child Protection.

The course covers the following topics:

• Protection of the child is the first priority.

• Area Protection Committee Procedures or Local Safeguarding Children Boards procedures.

• Recognising possible signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect.

• Reporting concerns and confidentiality.

• Childcare Act 2006

The course is a mixture of guided class room based learning and practical exercises. At the end of the course delegates complete a multiple choice test paper and receive a certificate of attendance. There is no mandatory re-qualification period but it’s recommended that a refresher is taken at least every 1 year.

The duration of the course is between: 3 – 5 GLH
