A simple definition of dyslexia is an inherited condition that makes it extremely difficult to read, write, and spell in the native language, despite at least average (and often higher) intelligence. Phonemic awareness skills can and must be directly and explicitly taught to children who lack this awareness and this course addresses a greater understanding of the conditions and the necessary processing of phonemic awareness.
