Who is this course suitable for?

This course is suitable for people who have little or no experience of carpentry or joinery. The course is practical based and you will have your own training bay and tools in which to complete your training and you can use as much materials as required.

Course Objectives and Certification.

We aim to make all attendees proficient with the basic tools, materials, backgrounds, preparations, and techniques of carpentry and joinery.

We will supply all tools and materials required. Upon completion you will receive a Guild of Master Craftsmen certificate of competence. You will also receive a level 1 certificate in Basic Construction Skills awarded by City & Guilds

You will cover the following units:

· Build stud partitioning leaving a window and door opening.

· Fix a door frame, hang a door and fix furniture.

· Fit locks, mortise / yale.

· Cut and fix architrave.

· Cut and fix skirting boards.

· Box in pipes, electric meters, etc.

· Board out a loft space for storage.

· Identify and use tools, equipment and materials used carpentry.

· Understand products, their suitable uses, terminology and jargon used.

· Understand the different methods used to price jobs, dealing with customers and overcoming problems that may arise.

· Supporting information on business start-up.

· Telephone, email and drop in support relating to course contents.

5 Days in duration with supporting notes to revise at home. Each day is from 9am until 5pm at Stoke, or 8am to 4pm in Willenhall

We ask for a deposit of £100 to secure your place on a course.
