Leadership Development (2 days)
This 2 day course aims to 'put a mirror up' to manager's skill sets to evaluate strengths and development areas and offer a range of tips, tactics and processes around the everyday skills of the effective manager. The course can be tailored to one day.

At the end of the 2-day workshop, delegates will be able to:
~ Understand the differences between a Leader and a Manager
~ Appreciate the qualities of an effective Leader
~ Understand their strengths and development areas as Leaders
~ Understand communication and how it can be misinterpreted between managers and staff
~ Understand their communication style with others and how to adapt to improve their influencing
~ Understand and practice the 3 steps to assertive behaviour to encourage staff to ‘give of their best’, and to help manage upwards
~ Apply a range of influencing tips and tactics to help manage others
~ Appreciate the dos and don’ts of effective feedback
~ Apply the E.E.C. model for giving feedback on staff and peer performance
~ Appreciate the importance of objective setting
~ Understand the S.M.A.R.T. model for setting tasks/performance objectives for staff
~ Understand the range of performance standards that can be applied in the workplace, and how to communicate these standards to staff
~ Understand what coaching is and can define the benefits ~ Understand the difference in coaching styles between TEL, SEL and DEL, and explain situations where it is more appropriate to use one rather than another
~ Know their own preferred coaching style
~ Have participated in coaching activity, exploring best practice tips and tactics for effective coaching
~ Understand performance management in terms of levels of ‘skill and will’
~ Understand the range of options available for those suffering from low skill or low will
~ Appreciate when performance counselling is an appropriate course of action
~ Understand how to prepare for a performance counselling interview
~ Apply a structured process to the delivery of the performance counselling interview
~ Tackle a range of difficult managerial/leadership issues via a case study approach
