Professional Hair Styling

Professional Hair Styling Certificate 3 days £550. You will be given a kit and Training Manual.


The course will cover the following in detail:

Health & Safety (and tips on looking professional)
This is to ensure that you follow health and safety procedures to avoid cross contamination and to ensure that you are seen as a professional by who ever you are working with.

Understanding Hair
You will learn about the structure of hair itself so that you understand different hair types, and why different styling techniques create different effects. It will enable you to stand up as a professional in the eyes of your client, to whom you will be able to give good advice.

Preparing the hair for styling
This covers the skills needed to determine the hair type and condition so that you can advise the client on what styles are best suited to their hair, and can use the most suitable techniques. You will also learn about conditions of the scalp so that you can identify any infections or infestations which will affect your services.

Pre-Styling Advice
We will teach you how to carry out a consultation, and you will learn how to analyse your client and his/her needs in order to be able to create styles which suit their hair type, face shape, taste and requirements.

Preparing the Client for Styling
You will learn how to prepare your client for effective, safe and professional styling.

Sectioning
You will master sectioning techniques needed in order to create professional, neat and long lasting hair styles.
Selecting the Right Products

Different styling products have different purposes, so you will learn what they are and what they are used for, so that you can always select the correct product to use when styling the hair.

Blow Drying
You will learn the basic principles of blow dries which will tie in with your understanding of the science behind hair. Advanced techniques will be taught during the course as you learn to create different styles.

Straightening the Hair
We will cover various ways to straighten the hair, including how to blow dry the hair straight, and the use of various products.

Creating Volume
You will learn various styling techniques used to create long lasting volume, including mastering the art of volumising blow dry's.

Curling the hair
We will teach you the various methods used to curl hair, including roller setting, tongs, types of pin curls (barrel, flat barrel, clockspring), and using straightening irons.

Styling Short Hair
Short hair can be difficult to style or come up with styling ideas for. We will teach you various ways in which to style short and very short hair.

Hair Up's
You will learn how to create a classic vertical roll (french pleat) as well as a french plait. We will also teach you ways in which to use your skills and techniques learnt so far, to be creative to produce unique up do's.
Finishing a hair style

Finishing the hair is as important as creating the style itself and we will teach you the methods in which to ensure the style is secure, long lasting and looks perfect.

Assessment
You will be asked to create 2 looks based on the skills you have learnt. You will receive our one to one attention so that you receive honest feedback in order to make you the best hair stylist you can be.

Your assessment is not there to catch you out, but instead will prove that you are ready to launch your career as a professional hair stylist. Most courses provide a certificate for simply attending, but our assessments mean that your certificate actually means you are good at what you do. You can take it to any employer or client, and give them instant confidence in your skills and abilities.
