Following years of growth in world trade and now during these difficult times, ports continue to play a vital role in the movement of goods around the world. There is still considerable belief in the strong basis of the global economy and, despite the short term problems and the ongoing needs of the world’s economies, it remains that transport and ports will continue to be an essential part of the supply chain. The cost of transportation reflects on the competitiveness of the products sold and so every nation has a vested interest in developing an efficient transport system.

Road, rail, canal, air and ship transportation are all seeking to consolidate their place in the market and looking for innovative improvements to increase their customer base. Ports will play a major part in this development.
