Learning Outcomes:




The intended learning outcome is detailed in the course guide produced by NEBOSH. This is summarised as follows:




1) Identify common hazards in construction workplaces and advise on appropriate remedial actions


2) Advise on appropriate action to minimise fire risks and to develop fire procedures


3) Assist in the preparation, review and monitoring of safety policy and procedures including pro-active and reactive strategies, training audits and safety committees etc.


4) Investigate accidents and other incidents, prepare reports making cost effective proposals to prevent reoccurrence identify the main requirements of legislation and codes of practice


Maintain records and information sources to advise management


5) Communicate effectively on health and safety matters including the use of reports etc.


6) Undertake effective workplace inspections and recommend cost effective remedial action


7) Describe human and organisational factors affecting health and safety performance assessment

Delegates will be sufficiently prepared for the NEBOSH examinations. To satisfy the requirements for the award of the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health, candidates must pass two written papers plus the practical assessment. Exam date details subject to accreditation.




The practical assessment is carried out normally at the candidate's place of work on the completion of the course and must be submitted for assessment within seven working days of the programme. Successful candidates will be awarded the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health.
